Introduction to Governing Executive

Welcome to the Governance web pages

Here you will find details of the way in which the College is governed and the key role played by the members of the Governing Executive and its standing committees.

The College is both a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. Members of the Governing Executive are Directors of the company, registered with Companies House and the Charities Commission.

The Governing Executive is responsible for agreeing the strategic direction of the College and for approving policies and financial plans. There is also a College Council, a group of people representing organisations who share Ruskin’s ideals, who meet twice a year and offer the benefit of their advice and experience.

There are currently 21 members of the Governing Executive, all of whom are recruited from the College Council. The role is unpaid, except for travel expenses, and members commit to attending at least three meetings each year.

In addition, the Governing Executive has a number of standing committees that meet regularly throughout the year:

•    Audit Committee
•    Finance Committee
•    Search Committee

There are also representatives from the Governing Executive members on the Project Board, established to oversee decisions made regarding the redevelopment of the Ruskin Hall site in Headington.

Minutes of the standing committee meetings and other governance related documents, including the College’s Annual Report and Accounts, can be found on these pages.

The Clerk to the Governors is Rebecca Cox. If you would like further information about the governance of the College, please contact Rebecca on 01865 517827 or email rcox@ruskin.ac.uk
